Xavier is the best school for my major! Monday, Nov 17 2008

Xavier University was not my first choice of schools to attend for my college career.  During my junior year of high school, I attended my junior class trip that allowed my class to visit historic black colleges and universities. It was then that I decided Spelman was the place for me. Spelman College was my first choice. When I first applied to Xavier, it was because my mother advised me to do so. I did not want to attend a college in the state of Louisiana. I wanted to go far away to gain a sense of independence, privacy, and to mature more into a young lady. I began looking at different colleges that specialize in the sciences because my major is Biology Pre-medicine. After applying to Xavier, I began to receive different brochures about the college and then decided to re-tour the campus and maybe reconsider my choice of college. I had never seen a college where all students looked professional and ready for their career. Xavier’s students have goals and they do not give up on them. It is good to see young African American people strive for excellence and come out above statistics. After being accepted to Xavier, I gained knowledge that Xavier is number one in the United States for sending African American Student to Medical School. After learning that, Spelman was completely pushed out of the way. I chose Xavier University of Louisiana as the college I am attending because it is best for my major and the students strive for academic excellence!

What is your philosophy on life:There is nothing too hard for God! Monday, Nov 17 2008

My philosophy on life is that everything happens for a reason. I believe that everyone was created by one God, and God alone. I believe that people were put on earth to find out their vocation in life and pursue it! Everyone has a journey and a certain route that they travel during life. Some people travel down the “good” road and some people travel down the not so good role, but the only one to judge is God. All Christians should go to church and a serve God through their up’s and downs.  Of coarse people make mistakes, but it is up to them to fix their mistakes, and if they do have the strength to make it on their own, it is up to their heavenly brother and sister to help them. I believe that people should give back to their community and help those people in need because all people are looked at as children of God whether their rich or poor, nice or mean, religious or non-religious. All people should try to pursue happiness which is always obtained through God. No one stress about anything. All problems should be placed in the masters hands! There is nothing too hard for God. People are here to live a strong and prosperous life and do so according to gods will. We all fall and come short of His glory, but God always heals and forgives. There is nothing to hard for God.

My Philosophy Sunday, Sep 14 2008

I believe that philosophy is something that you live by. My philosophy is “keep it pure and keep it tight”, which means to keep yourself pure and keep your other “Stuff” tight. I believe in abstinence and that it is a lifestyle. When I say lifestyle, I mean that you just don’t keep your body pure but you keep your mind pure as well. You don’t listen to music that is degrading or watch movies that are impure. This philosophy is also backed up by the bible because one of God’s 10 commandments says that you should not commit adultery and I believe that the only way of that is by staying pure in every aspect in life. I chose this philosophy because I believe this is the one that is for me.  I know that it is the one for me because it helps me with my walk in Christ. I am extremely glad that I chose this philosophy to live by because it is very healthy for my life. It is healthy because it helps me out of trouble. I also believe that everyone should have some kind of healthy philosophy to life by because it helps you stay positive. I believe that it can be anything that helps your self-esteem because any philosophy like that it will take you a long way.

Blog Post #2: Why did you choose to come to Xavier? Tuesday, Sep 9 2008

Write whatever comes to mind for this question; just let your thoughts take you from one place to the next.  Remember that it needs to be at least 250 words.  Also, since Gustav has set us all back a bit, consider this to be due by the end of week 3 instead of week 2.
